FASHION REVOLUTION WEEK - WHO MADE MAX'S CLOTHES!
So here's a little more detail about our business, what makes us passionate, and why we do what we do! If it wasn't for all the local companies, working daily with amazing creative people we wouldn't be where we are today! So BIG SHOUT OUT to all the locals! And yes, it took me years to research and find all the following local gems! ;)
We chose to move from one of the fashion capitals – London, back to Melbourne because it is such a creative multi cultural city. With over 16 years designing in the industry, our vision is to create a premium sustainable fashion brand that pushes the boundaries aesthetically, reinforcing the importance of originality and slow fashion.
Max menswear focuses on providing premium quality streetwear, made using the finest quality fabrics all sourced locally within Australia. All max menswear tops are made from 100% organic cotton jersey, from OCC APPAREL-CERTTON and they are ETHICAL CLOTHING AUSTRALIA accredited. Other cotton fabrics are used from HMA FABRICS, knitted and dyed 100% in Melbourne.
Not only are we supporting fair local trade and slow fashion, but we provide customer's with high quality garments that won't be found anywhere else, all manufactured in limited edition runs in the heart of Melbourne. All our screen prints are printed by hand with water based inks at SCREENPLAY FITZROY, yardage cotton prints in Collingwood at PRINTINK studio, our studio is in Brunswick where we do samples and small runs, and we out source bigger quantities to the factory in Coburg – 101 STITCHES.
We are involved in local community events, educating the general public about our business practices and how, where and why we make our clothes. We recently were involved in THE NATIONAL SUSTAINABLE LIVING FESTIVAL 2018 held at Federation Square, and over 3 days had a pop up shop selling and informing people of our business processes. We have also done runway shows at MORAL FAIRGROUND, also held at Federation Square, and we are listed on the ETHICAL FASHION AUSTRALIA Directory -

Buying Coco and Max is to support local artists, local businesses and creating better carbon for prints and helping climate change. Clothing is more powerful than people think; choosing what to buy makes a statement that creates a butterfly effect through clothing - every small action can and will make a big difference - every little step counts. We were also recently interviewed by THE WEEKLY REVIEW – 'Meet the local labels leading the charge against fast fashion'– link below.
Max’s latest collection is a surrealist graphic heavy exploration of the worlds of nature and the supernatural. These hypothetical creations have manifested themselves upon Max’s trademark of Brutalist, geometry inspired silhouettes. The amalgamation of these two concepts has materialized into the upcoming collection, SUPER NATURALE S/S 2018.
